Where to Buy Industrial Warehouse Shelving
"Make sure you need industrial warehouse shelving!"
Warehouse shelving is the industrial type of racks and shelves that you really don’t need to worry about how they look, unless of course you plan to be taking people on tours throughout the warehouse itself. Otherwise, what difference does it really make? You just need something to be able to store and hold your things, whether it’s pallets, wire, equipment, or a whole mess of different things.
Clearly, used is the way to go here. You’ll save money, and you will end up with the same great rack or shelving unit as someone who paid full price for a new one. The only reason I would ever avoid this would be if you need some sort of custom built shelves or specialty items that you store that really wouldn’t fit on conventional types.
In the UK and US, it’s not uncommon to find most racks made from steel or some other mixture of metals. The reason for this is that these structures need to be incredibly durable and strong, able to hold thousands of pounds (especially if you’re holding heavy duty things like wire, concrete, or metal objects).
Where can you go to get the shelves that you need, though? I mean, it’s not like you can just wander into your local store and ask for hundreds of pounds of heavy duty shelving units. Basically, you will find that large cities have a couple manufacturers and installers of these units. Another option you don’t have to totally rule out is building one yourself. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to take shortcuts here, but if you or someone you know is skilled with welding and metallurgy, why not save yourself the money? Also, you’d be able to make the rack to exactly the specifications you desire.
Be sure to follow all local ordinances and practices, though, or you will not only be putting yourself in physical danger, you’ll be at risk of getting fines.
